Reiyukai
(Ray-you-kye)
The name Reiyukai translates into English as 'society of Spiritual Friends.' It was founded In the early part of the last century, amid the rubble of the great Tokyo Earthquake and the chaos of a society in transition, by a young architect called Kakutaro Kubo. He saw a way for the people to better their existence, based on the philosophy of Shakyamimi Buddha and devised a simple, personal set of teaching that could be applied by anyone, regardless of their circumstances.
As each individual is unique, having different experiences, strengths, weaknesses, needs and aspirations, it stands to reason that they have the greatest capacity to determine what is best for them and how they can best develop themselves Into more effective citizens.
Reiyukai believes that, if every person could reach their full potential, then not only would they find true happiness, but society as a whole would be improved and draw closer to the ultimate aim of us all: world peace.
